Black Plymouth Rocks:
Black Plymouth Rocks are a variety in their own right and striking in appearance, however, they also appear as sports from Barred Plymouth Rocks (these have much darker leg colour). Confusion is also added by the 'Black Rock', a commercial hybrid originating from a Rhode Island Red x Barred Plymouth Rock mating.

Black Plymouth Rocks - beetle green.

One of the most important plumage considerations of Black Plymouth Rocks is that they should have a lustrous beetle-green glow or 'sheen'. When this is combined with the correct Plymouth Rock type, bright yellow legs, orange eyes, and a red face it is quite endearing.
